The history of our company dates back to the nineteen thirties when in Ostrów Wielkopolski, at Raszkowska Street the private concrete plant run by Schultz was established. It had good prosperity till the day of II World War outbreak, providing the local market with concrete mass and small prefabricated elements.

On the basis of the former plant there was a new plant started up – The ‘Poznańskie Zakłady Betonowe’ Works (The Poznanian Concrete Works) which were nationalised in 1950.

In 1951 the Poznanian Concrete Works were transformed into the ‘Ostrowskie Zakłady Betoniarskie i Żelbetowe’ Works (The Ostrovian Concrete and Reinforcement Works) which developed at a quick pace, delivering the materials necessary for restoration and constructing of the country.

In 1970 some organisational changes were made – the works were transformed and the remote plants were joined, and the Company took the name ‘WIELFABET’. In 1974 they started to construct the new enterprise, at the city’s suburbs, at Rejtana and Chłapowskiego Streets. They built the halls wherein they began to produce the ceilings and walls at large scale for housing industry, poles for the purposes of power engineering and they purchased, via their Union of Enterprises, the line for production of pressure prestressed concrete pipes.

In 1978 the name was changed into ‘PREFABET’. Since 1984 the production of the first ‘BETRAS’ pipes was started. The nationwide needs and the elaborated ‘Vistula River’ (WISŁA) programme assumed laying out of a few hundreds kilometers of collectors correcting the river bed course. That programme was not realised. The BETRAS pipes were the first and so far the only pressure pipes, reinforced pipes made of prestressed concrete.

The changes at the end of eighties led to dividing of PREFABET’s property . One of its parts was the Plant named ‘Wytwórnia Sprężonych Rur Ciśnieniowych’ (Prestressed Concrete Pressure Pipes Plant) wherein they produced the BETRAS pipes. On 1st December 1993 a new economic subject began its activity – it was the ‘Przedsiębiorstwo Produkcji Betonów Wyspecjalizowanych BETRAS Sp. z o.o.’ (Specialized Concretes Production Enterprise). The Company’s founders were the enterprises from the territory of Silesia who cared for maintaining the production of pipes.

At the beginning the Company rented the assets,by purchasing them in 1994. Since that moment the Company was continuously being developed, leading to increasing of production assortment by new products.
